These delicious chocolate covered Valentine’s day treats will be the hit of the party or will make a perfect gift for that special someone!
Even though these treats were made over the Christmas season, they would make great Valentine’s day party goodies as well. Every year, usually the week before Christmas my mom, sister, nieces and myself get together to make candy. We always use my sister’s kitchen, since she has the most space. Quite a mess is created, but it is well worth it!
Most of the goodies are dipped in chocolate, which is melted in the double boiler. This year, we opted to use Coblentz Chocolates dipping chocolate. They are a local chocolate factory that we love! They have milk chocolate and dark chocolate(my favorite).
Pretzels and peanut butter crackers are a few of the things we dip that make such a great treat! We like to use Townhouse crackers with natural peanut butter spread between two crackers. After the chocolate has hardened, we melt white chocolate to drizzle over the goodies.
We always end up dipping some treats in white chocolate and drizzling with milk or dark chocolate.
A few other items that are great dipped in chocolate are Oreo cookies, Graham crackers and marshmallows. Parchment or wax paper work great to set the dipped treats onto for drying and hardening. We usually use trays and cookie sheets for this and set them out on the porch to cool.
This year we dipped a few of our favorite recipes including mint patties and chocolate coffee truffles. My mom always makes the peanut butter chocolate cookies, which is also a favorite and more like a candy. All these recipes can be found at the end of the post.

Over Christmas all these treats make lovely and delicious gifts to fix on plates for teachers, mail carriers, bus drivers, or anyone you want to thank for the work they do throughout the year. The little treats also look great set in a little glass dish or a basket lined with tissue paper.
And, of course on Valentine’s Day these would make a great treat for a loved one.
I made little Valentine’s day gift tags that are available to purchase. The tags would be perfect to include with a container full of chocolate treats! They are made of a good quality matte card stock and measure 2.5″ x 4.25″. A fine hemp cord string is attached. For more information about them or to purchase click here:

Can you use peppermint extract in the chocolate peppermint patties? If so, would the amount of flavoring change if using extract instead of oil? I would like to try the recipe. They look cute and sound so tasty! I have extract on hand but not peppermint oil. An older, dear friend often reminds me to use what I have…
